The Hindang Waterfalls Experience

Iligan City is tagged as the "City of Majestic Waterfalls" for obvious reasons.  This humble city in Northern Mindanao is blessed with 23 waterfalls. Add the 8 springs and 15 caves, and "awesome" becomes a clear understatement.  I do hope I get to see even half of these wonders in this lifetime. ^___^

I was sooooo looking forward to the waterfalls part of the Hindang trip.  After that ambitious trek to Hindang Cave, the calming sound and sight of flowing water would most definitely and undoubtedly be welcoming and relaxing.  No wonder we practically ran downhill, which by the way was filled with my seemingly endless how-soon-are-we-gonna-be-there questions to our guides coupled with "easier na ang trail pa-falls kuya? Pramis?" Good thing Robert, one of the guides, was blessed with much patience and answered with a smile each time. He said that the trail to the falls is much easier and takes about 10 to 15 minutes only. But then again, after what we went through that day, maybe we'd think any other trail would be as easy as pie.

Much to our surprise, what he said was true. He didn't just say that the trek was easy to keep our spirits up.  After about 7-10 minutes of comfortable walk with just a few steep and slippery portions, the marvel that is Hindang Falls unfolded before our very eyes.

The mesmerizing Hindang Falls is located at hinterland Barangay Hindang, 18 km from the city proper.  It is a 40-feet-high two-tiered waterfalls with a lagoon ideal for swimming.  The picture above shows second water drop. Here's another photo showing both waterfalls.

This beautiful site truly met (and even exceeded) my expectations.  It's actually the first waterfalls I saw that has that kind of massive rock that guides the water as it flows down to the lagoon. This apparently makes the falls more relaxing than others.

And as if that wasn't enough, opposite the view of the falls is this equally scenic view:
